Our Impact

Our impact is not measured only by what we give, collect, or deliver. It is also reflected in the women who learn to lead, the partnerships that grow stronger, and the community needs that are met through thoughtful, organized service.

When women are trained, supported, and connected to meaningful volunteer work, the entire community benefits.

Community Service

Through community-based service, our members respond to local needs with care, consistency, and collaboration. From collecting supplies to supporting nonprofit partners, our service work is designed to meet real needs while building long-term community relationships.

Our Service Projects

Leadership Development

Every project is also a leadership opportunity. Members gain experience in planning, communication, budgeting, volunteer coordination, board service, and nonprofit operations.

Where  Our  Work  Shows  Up

Since beginning as the Junior Women’s Association of Greenville in 2010 and later becoming connected to the Junior League movement in 2017, our organization has built a legacy of member-led projects, fundraising, awareness, and service. Each effort reflects the same purpose: developing women as civic leaders while responding to community needs with care, creativity, and collaboration.

  • Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies supports students and families by providing practical items that help meet everyday needs. This project reflects the League’s commitment to consistent, compassionate service in partnership with local schools.

  • Volunteer Expo

The Volunteer Expo was created to strengthen civic engagement across Greenville and Pitt County by connecting local organizations with community members who want to serve. Modeled like a community service fair, the Expo gives nonprofits a platform to share their needs while helping residents find meaningful ways to volunteer, serve on boards, and support special projects.

In 2026, the Junior League hosted its sixth annual Volunteer Expo at the Greenville Convention Center, where local nonprofits and community members gathered around shared service and civic involvement.

  • Little Black Dress Initiative

The Little Black Dress Initiative uses a simple visual symbol to start deeper conversations about community need. Members wear the same black dress for five consecutive days to illustrate how poverty and limited resources can restrict choices, access, and opportunity.

Locally, JLG has used LBDI to raise awareness around issues including food insecurity, human trafficking, and economic mobility, while also inviting the community to support the League’s impact work through donations and conversation.

  • Runway 5k

Race the Runway was developed as a community-centered 5K designed to welcome participants of every pace; runners, walkers, families, and wheelchair athletes. By partnering with PGV Airport, the League created a unique event experience that connected physical activity, local pride, and mission support.

The 2025 Race the Runway was the first-ever race event on the runway at the Greenville Airport and included a partnership with Ainsley’s Angels to support wheelchair athletes crossing the finish line.
