2026 - 2027 Leadership

There is something deeply meaningful about beginning again. Not from a place of starting over, but from a place of reflection. From where we have been, what we have learned, what we have carried, and what we now have the opportunity to build together.
In Greenville, NC community is not built through service alone. It is built through presence. Through the quiet, steady decision to keep showing up for one another, even when the work is complex, path is imperfect and especially when the need is greater than what any one person or organization can carry alone. The Junior League of Greenville has always been rooted in that kind of commitment. Our work lives in our neighborhoods, our schools, our partnerships, and in the organizations that labor every day to support families across Pitt County. We are fortunate to serve in a community filled with nonprofits and civic partners doing meaningful, necessary work. Yet one need continues to rise to the surface again and again: the need for prepared, confident, compassionate leaders who are ready to step in, step up, and help sustain the work that moves our community forward.

That is where the Junior League stands apart. We are not only serving the community. We are developing the people who will continue to strengthen it.

For me, that mission is personal. My work in equal access to education, nonprofit development, and community advocacy has shown me that meaningful change does not happen by accident. It happens because people choose to take responsibility for the spaces they occupy. It happens because someone is willing to ask the harder questions, learn the unfamiliar systems, and remain committed long enough to see progress take shape. I have had the privilege of founding and supporting organizations focused on strengthening public education, while also advocating for Exceptional Children programs and for families navigating systems that can often feel overwhelming. That work has included helping families access resources, understand their options, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. In each of those spaces, one truth has remained constant: the strength of any mission is directly tied to the strength, preparation, and courage of its leadership.
That is why our focus this year is both simple and intentional.
Mission Ready. Not as a slogan. As a standard.
To be Mission Ready means we come prepared. Prepared to lead with purpose. Prepared to serve with humility. Prepared to grow through discomfort. Prepared to support one another with honesty, grace, and accountability. It means we understand that leadership is not reserved for a title, a boardroom, or a perfectly timed opportunity. Leadership is built in the moments when we choose to contribute our time, our perspective, our effort, to our willingness to learn.
Being Mission Ready also means recognizing that preparation is an act of care. When we prepare well, we honor the people beside us. We honor the members who will follow us. We honor the community partners who depend on us. We honor the families, students, and organizations whose needs deserve more than good intentions.
The training we gain through the Junior League is not theoretical. It is lived. It is practiced through committee leadership, hands-on community impact, strategic planning, difficult conversations, thoughtful collaboration, and the courage to keep learning even when the process challenges us. These experiences do not stay within the League. They move outward into the boards we will serve on, the organizations we will strengthen, the classrooms, workplaces, nonprofits, and community spaces where our leadership will continue to matter.
Greenville may not be defined by its size, but it is absolutely defined by its connection. This is a community where relationships matter, where service is personal, and where local leadership has the power to create impact far beyond what we may immediately see. When we lead locally with intention, consistency, and care, we are not simply responding to the needs in front of us. We are helping shape the foundation for what comes next.
This year, I invite each of you to consider what it means to show up Mission Ready. For yourself. For this League. For the members who are learning beside you. For the leaders who will come after you and for the community we are entrusted to serve.

I am honored to serve alongside you in the year ahead, and I am grateful for the opportunity to begin this chapter with purpose, clarity, and with deep appreciation for the work we will do together.
