The Junior League of Greenville, NC is proud to be part of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. and to carry forward a legacy of women leading meaningful change in their communities. As our community evolves, so does the way we serve. We put Junior League values into action locally by developing women as civic leaders, strengthening partnerships, and creating meaningful impact throughout Greenville and Pitt County. Through volunteer action, collaboration, and training, we are empowering women to lead with purpose today while helping build a stronger community for tomorrow.
ABOUT THE JUNIOR LEAGUE MOVEMENT AND ASSOCIATION
For more than 125 years, the Junior League movement has been Developing Women to Do a World of Good™. Founded in 1901 in New York City by social activism pioneer Mary Harriman, the movement has grown into one of the world’s most enduring volunteer leadership organizations.
Today, The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI) connects more than 112,000 women across 296 communities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Kenya, and France. Formed in 1921, the Association strengthens and supports individual Leagues through shared learning, leadership development, and collective action.
2010: A Local Beginning
Our story began in Greenville with the founding of the Junior Women’s Association of Greenville, a volunteer-led group of women committed to service, connection, and community leadership.
2010–2017: Building the Foundation
During these formative years, local women helped shape the foundation for what would become the Junior League of Greenville, NC. Their work established a culture of leadership, service, and community engagement that continues to guide the League today.

2017: Joining the Junior League Movement
In 2017, the organization became officially associated with The Association of Junior Leagues International, connecting Greenville’s local service and leadership work to the broader Junior League movement.

The Association of Junior Leagues International is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.
For the Junior League of Greenville, NC, association with AJLI means our local work is part of a broader movement. We are rooted in Greenville and Pitt County, but we are also connected to a network of women around the world who believe in leadership, service, training, and community impact.
